1. Hiking of Fees and Financial Impact

In a shocking turn of events, over 200 parents have come forward to accuse Madam Arumba, the Director of Rising Star Academy in Kilifi, of various misdeeds, ranging from reckless fee hikes to poor learning conditions and dictatorship-like behavior.

According to the allegations, Madam Arumba has hiked school fees by a significant amount, totaling Kshs 6000 per term, which translates to an additional burden of Ksh 18,000 annually for parents. This sudden increase has placed a heavy financial strain on families already struggling to make ends meet.

2. Learning Conditions and Infrastructure

Furthermore, parents claim that the school lacks adequate infrastructure, exposing students to serious health risks. Reports indicate that classrooms lack basic amenities such as window panes, and students are forced to study in buildings still under construction, violating Ministry of Education guidelines.

3. Transport Mishandlement

The accusations don’t stop there. Concerns have been raised regarding the mishandling of transportation services. Shockingly, students are crammed into overcrowded vans, with reports of more than 60 pupils squeezed into a 14-seater van, posing a serious safety hazard.

4. Dictatorship and Gagging of Parents

Adding to the distress, parents allege that Madam Arumba runs the school with an iron fist, stifling dissent and gagging parents from voicing their concerns. They claim that attempts to engage in dialogue through class WhatsApp groups have been met with censorship, with only teachers allowed to communicate.

5. Parental Response and Vow for Action

Faced with these troubling revelations, parents are taking matters into their own hands. Plans are underway to petition the Ministry of Education for intervention if corrective action is not taken promptly. Some parents have even expressed their intention to withdraw their children from the school if the situation remains unresolved.

6. Engagement with the Ministry of Education

In a bid to seek justice and accountability, parents are gearing up for direct engagement with the Ministry of Education. They refuse to let their concerns go unheard and are determined to hold Madam Arumba and the school administration accountable for their actions.

The allegations against Madam Arumba and Rising Star Academy are deeply troubling and warrant immediate attention. Every child deserves access to quality education in a safe and nurturing environment, free from financial exploitation and neglect. The Ministry of Education must take swift and decisive action to address these concerns and ensure that justice prevails.
