Police in Nairobi arrested three suspects on Wednesday, believed to be part of a major Nairobi phone theft syndicate operating in the Central Business District. The arrests followed a targeted operation aimed at curbing the rising cases of smartphone snatching in the city.
During the raid, officers recovered more than 70 stolen mobile phones and assorted electronic items. The operation comes amid growing public outcry over rampant daylight muggings and theft, particularly targeting unsuspecting commuters and pedestrians in the CBD.
Police say the crackdown will continue as part of broader efforts to dismantle organised gangs responsible for the wave of street-level phone thefts that have left many Nairobians frustrated and vulnerable.
