Anthony Muchui Manyara
A man named Anthony Muchui Manyara has been charged in court for pretending to have been sent by a Supreme Court Judge in a bid to obtain money. Appearing before Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, Manyara faced a charge of attempting to obtain money by pretenses, contrary to Section 389 of the Penal Code.
He denied the allegation in court, where the prosecution outlined the seriousness of the offense, highlighting the deceptive means used in the attempt. The case has drawn significant attention due to the audacity of the impersonation and the involvement of a high-ranking judicial figure in the pretense.

The court was informed that Muchui Manyara committed the offense on November 28, 2023, at around1900 hours at Artcaffe restaurant at The Hub Karen in Nairobi County within the Republic of Kenya, attempted to obtain USD 6,750 equivalent to 1,031,197.50 from Mary Wagaki Muthumbi.
He is said to have pretended to have been sent by Hon Justice Daniel K Musinga, Judge and the president of the Court of Appeal of Kenya to constitute a three-judge Bench TO HEAR HER CASE NUMBER coacappl/e561/2023 and grant the prayer to file the appeal out of time as sought by her lawyer, a fact he knew to be false.
He denied the charges and was released on Sh 100 Cash Bail.
